Georgia’s Mental Health Leaders Continue Expansion of Community-Based Care with New Certified Community Behavioral Health Clinic Candidates

CCBHCs make it easier for a person to contact a provider and receive the help they need.

Atlanta – October 1, 2023 - The Georgia Department of Behavioral Health and Developmental Disabilities (DBHDD), led by Commissioner Kevin Tanner, reaffirms its commitment to community-based care by announcing new candidates for the Certified Community Behavioral Health Clinics (CBHCCs) initiative. These clinics continue to exemplify a one-stop approach for comprehensive behavioral and physical health care.

The latest candidates poised for Planning, Development and Implementation are:

  1. Community Service Board of East Central Georgia (Serenity)

  2. Behavioral Health Services of South Georgia (Legacy)

The latest candidate poised for Improvement and Advancement is:

  1. Advantage Behavioral Health Systems

The CCBHC model is gaining traction for its patient-centric approach.

“CCBHCs make it easier for a person to contact a provider and receive the help they need,” said Commissioner Tanner. “It ensures that our most vulnerable community members can access services while upholding quality standards.”

Sarepta Archila, Georgia’s CCBHC state project director, emphasizes the broad scope of care CCBHCs offer. "CCBHCs are in an advantageous position to address both behavioral and physical health needs. By providing comprehensive solutions, we aim to reduce re-admissions over time."
